Soccer Ball Billie
Book Two

Soccer Ball Billie"Can I help you, young man?" asked an elderly lady who was sorting through boxes and bags. "I thought I saw something waving at me from your window so I've come to have a look," said Billie. He didn't dare mention hearing a voice. "That's very odd," said the elderly lady, "but do see what you can find." Billie put his hand down through all the ornaments towards the back of the camel tray. Suddenly, it felt as if an octopus had wrapped itself around his fingers. He tried to pull away but couldn't. "Alloo......."

Soccer Ball BillieBillie looked down. The 'strings' were black laces and were attached to the most amazing pair of silver and black boots. They looked like space-age football boots. "Alloo," said the boots. "Hallo," whispered Billie in amazement. "Who are you?" "I'm Nippy, and I've been sent to find you, take me with you." Billie pulled the boots clear and took them to the elderly lady.

"I'd like these please," he said. "Goodness me, they're strange," said the lady, "I wonder who brought them in?" She looked at the price. "Two pounds please." Billie paid with what was left of his pocket money and left the shop.

Soccer Ball MumBillie rushed home. "Mum, Mum, look what I've got - really strange football boots." "Goodness me, where on earth......." gasped Mrs. Footie. "They fit perfectly, I got them from the Charity Shop with my pocket money." "That's wonderful Billie," said his Mum, "if that's what you want." "It is, it is," cried Billie, running and zig-zagging around the house.
